Besides the Yellow-headed Blackbird I posted about separately, the
other highlight of my birding today was finding a huge, almost pure
flock of Rusty Blackbirds in a different location on the southeast
side of Franklin Co.  Scoping them in the field, I could tell there
was a pretty even mix of males and females.  When they streamed over
the road, I counted/estimated about 2650 Rusties.  This has to be an
order of magnitude more Rusties than I've ever seen at once in my
life.  I would not have expected this to happen in Franklin County in
January.  The birds streamed to the southwest following the Alum Creek
riparian corridor.
