While checking for waterfowl & winter strays around lower Hoover reservoir, I had a Northern Waterthrush at Duncan Glen, a large inlet on the east shore of Hoover Reservoir today around 11:45 AM. The bird was actively feeding in a small stream that ran alongside Redbank Road just north of its bridge over the inlet. It flew off to the east after a few minutes; there are a lot of small streams in the vicinity of this inlet, so the bird could find many locations to feed. Unfortunately, many of these streams are on private property, so access is limited. These are along the wind-protected south-facing shore of Duncan Glen, and there were quite a few other birds around the running water of the stream, including chickadees, titmice, Robins, Goldfinches, and E.Bluebirds.
