Can anyone get me the address for the Eurasian Wigeon and exactly where it
is at? I will be able to make it there on Thursday I believe.

Blessings to you,

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Hamilton Co Big Year

Off to a raging start for 2012! After a day of birding I now stand at 70
species for the year most of which have been seen in Hamilton Co! This is
thanks to excellent birds showing up including White-fronted Geese found by
Steve Bobonick & today a Eurasian Wigeon id'ed by Brian Wulker both birds
present at Fernald Preserve. The following is a copy of my post to
Cincinnati Birds about my great day out today:

What a day! Let's just start with that statement :) Well I started at
Fernald hoping for the White-fronted Geese which were not a disappointment.
I also saw the Eurasian Wigeon. Not a great look as it was actively feeding
& then flushed to the back corner of the pond not to be seen again. Would
not have been able to definitively call it due to the brief look & the fact
it was 8 am lighting so glad someone else saw it & got the definite id.
Other waterfowl included American Wigeon, Pintail, Green-winged Teal,
Gadwall, Mallards, Shovelers, Ring-necks. On a sad note also found 2 Mute
Swans frozen in the ice. I reported this to the visitors center. Hopefully
I'm wrong but they looked to actually be frozen in. Also heard a group of
Sandhills bugling but never saw them.

On Willey Rd saw 20 Sandhill Cranes in a field & 1 Kestrel. At the wetlands
saw 1 adult Bald Eagle looking over the field by the parking lot. Found a
group of about 80 LAPLAND LONGSPURS on Baughman Rd. Jumped out & scoped them
out. No Buntings or Larks all Longspurs. In the park proper at Big Sycamore
Picnic Area seed was thrown in the parking lot attracting mixed group of
songbirds best being 1 late Chipping Sparrow with Tree, Field, & Song.

Campbell Rd ponds just held geese however 6 TUNDRA SWANS flew overhead
nearby! Kilby Rd gravel pit held Ring-necks, Gadwall, & 2 Redheads. Lost
Bridge had 4 SNOW GEESE (1 white phase & 3 blue phase), 1 Mute Swan, 2
Lesser Scaup, & 2 Common Goldeneye.
