Hello All... Sorry for the late post. We spent the last two days of 2011 in Northwest Ohio looking for the Gyrfacon, reported earlier along the Maumee River, and for other possible Ohio rarities in the Toledo and Oak Openings area. Today, we drove the back roads of Fulton County (West of Toledo; between SR 20A and the Michigan border) in hopes of finding Brewer's Blackbirds, either flocked together with other birds in the agricultural fields, or in areas where there are feed lot/holding lot situations. In the past, I have found Brewer's a few times in this area of Fulton County during the months of December and January. With the help of a scope, I was able to pick out a Brewer's among a group of 25-30 foraging Starlings and House Sparrows at a dairy farm on CR 14, West of Lyons. Later, a tractor got up these and other birds, and there were 5 or 6 blackbirds flying among this flock of about 50 or so Starlings. I'm guessing that these
blackbirds were also Brewer's, though we did not see them return to these dairy barns before we left.

Best of birding in the New Year!
Dan
