The gray Eastern Screech Owl, near Otterbein Lake, left its roosting cavity at 5:43 PM on 01/06/2012. The cavity faces west and the sky was clear. One rufous Eastern Screech Owl arrived at the Alum Creek Trail bridge to roost for the day at 7:31 AM, the other at 7:36 AM this morning. Sky was partly cloudy. The times for arriving and departing, for all three owls, appear to be about 20 minutes before sunrise and 20 minutes after sunset respectively.
Also, if you are of a mind to, please look at this 20 sec. clip and offer your opinion as to the source of the strange sound. The ice was thin.
