I checked out Evans L. and Pine L. in eastern Mahoning Co. today.  Evans L. had only a little ice cover, while Pine L. was almost completely frozen over.  Birds at Evans L. included: 7 gadwalls, 10 Am. black ducks, redhead, 8 hooded mergansers, 48 ruddy ducks, common loon, 3 pied-billed grebes, imm. bald eagle, 125 Am. coots, and singing Carolina wren.  Pine L. hosted: 12 gadwalls, 10 Am. black ducks, 2 n. shovelers, red-breasted merganser, belted kingfisher, n. flicker, and 2 yellow-rumped warblers.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
