I just visited the heronry on SR 42 just north of Mason (SW  Ohio).  I was
happy to see that the Great Blue Herons have returned  (just on time - I
typically think of them as being back about Feb. 13) to the  nest area.  I
counted 12 today circling the sycamore trees and standing  around the small pond.

Today I counted more than 50 nests or partial nests (I can't tell if they
are old nests decaying or new nests that are still very small) .
