A small but very vocal (and very early) group of Red-winged Blackbirds seemed to proclaim the arrival of spring at the edge of Jackson Field in the Cleveland Metroparks' South Chagrin Reservation late this afternoon. Each bird was on his individual perch at the edge of a damp meadow area, singing, screaming, and swearing at his neighbors.
