FEBRUARY 04, 2012 - Cuyahoga Valley National Park & Metro Parks, Serving Summit County Monthly Towpath Trail Census.
HIKE: Red Lock Trailhead south to Merriman Rd. TIME: 7:15am-1:35pm TEMP.: 33-38-37 COND.: Cloudy with spitting rain early
changing to wet snow/rain mix; foggy with low ceiling from 10:40am-1:35pm; wet snow/rain mix ending at 11:50am.
FT.MI.: 13.0 OBS.: Douglas W. Vogus.

1. Eastern Gray Squirrel - 5 (1 black phase)
2. Eastern Fox Squirrel - 4
3. Red Squirrel - 11

II. BIRDS: 40 SPECIES.
(NOTE: ? = bird was seen but not sexed; * = bird was heard calling but not seen/sexed)

3. Mallard - 34 (16m,16f,2*)
4. Northern Pintail - 16 (10m,6f - 1 flock of 15 birds headed north followed shortly after by a single drake headed north)

7. Peregrine Falcon - 1 (* - calling from somewhere underneath the Ohio Turnpike bridge)
