Following up on a post from last week, I went yesterday Mar 17, 2012 to
exactly where Matt said these birds were.
I found a dark Rough-legged Hawk hunting over the fields as I got there at
around 1 pm and while tracking it with a spotting scope I had a horned lark
stop nearby to pose and sing for me as well.
This is what Matt said last week which gives the location:
"Made a pass through Middlefield (Geauga County) around noon and went to
Hayes Road, north of Nauvoo Road and found three Rough-legged Hawks are still
in the area. One light and one dark, for sure. The third was sort of in
between.
One horned lark in the corn stubble, singing its heart out while perched on
corn stalk!"
Many thanks to Matt for the post and to the List serve for hosting this.
