Yesterday we saw quite a migration of turkey vultures and raptors on South
Bass Island.

In the AM, there were about five places on the island in the vicinity of
Langram and Meechen Rd. where turkey vultures had roosted overnight-twenty to
thirty in each group.

That afternoon, there was a mixed group of about 100 turkey vultures with 8
red-tailed hawks and one red-shouldered hawk that were overhead of our
vineyard on Mitchell Rd. The kettle came in and out of view for about an hour
before moving to the west.

I saw a chipping sparrow while in the vineyard-had heard one a few days ago.
At dusk last night, I heard the trill of American Toads for the first time
this year.
