This morning 3/4/12 about 9:00 a.m., right here in in-town Chardon, only a few steps out the back door … heard flight calls that stopped me dead in my tracks.
A flock of white-winged crossbills landed in my neighbor's spruce. The crossbills, which appeared to be mostly female, worked the cones for a few minutes before taking flight.
