Has anyone seen this? The online version of the Cincinnati Enquirer
had a photo essay titled "What's Buried in Budget Plan?" with respect
to Kasich's proposed budget. This was included in the article. Since
there had been previous discussion of wind turbines I thought this
might be of interest. Instead of receiving permits maybe they should
be fined for killing birds and bats...

"Energy facilities can ward off attacks
Did you know that giant walleye were massing around the Davis-Besse
Nuclear Power Station near Lake Erie for an imminent attack? Or that
beavers are conspiring to gnaw through those giant metal structures
holding up power lines? How about the bunnies gathering outside the
Duke Power office?

Neither did we.

But Kasich's budget review makes sure those scenarios don't happen in
Ohio. The Ohio Division of Wildlife will issue permits to allow taking
of a wild animal interfering with or that may interfere with the
operations of an energy facility.

Actually, the permit is for operators of wind turbines that
accidentally kill birds and bats, according to Carlo LoParo, a
spokesman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources."
