It was a great day to be out. Some of the Metzger area highlights were
Horned Larks, Redheads, Canvasback, L. Scaup, A. Wigeon, Common and Hooded
Mergs Ring-necked ducks and a single male Bufflehead. Bald Eagles were
taking to the skies while some were viewed on their nests at Ottawa and the
vicinity. Harriers were perusing the marsh at Magee as well as a female
Coopers Hawk. Ottawa hosted throngs of Blackbirds and Grackles, a good
showing of Red-wings but primarily groups of dashing Rusty Blackbirds. A
single Sharpie was seen just off Rt 2 near the Toussaint area. It was
awesome to see and hear the Killdeer along the fields...always reminds me of
spring. My personal highlight were the Sandhill Cranes over Magee.
