Stops at these urban Columbus parks (and cemetery) found only winter migrants, and not too many of them. The Scioto River was rather high, so some spots were not accessible in Berliner. The cemetery was surprisingly quiet, with many of the typical winter birds, like the flocks of juncos, gone. I stopped at Haul Rd as well, and it was also rather slow. Notables for the morning included:

Dabbling Ducks - hardly any, with only a few Mallards. The River here is not much of a stopover for them.

Diving Ducks - a few Lesser Scaup were around, both at Scioto (2) and Haul Rd (3), but nothing else

Other Waterfowl - here's where it was interesting. Scioto had 15-20 cormorants, and smaller numbers were at almost every other stop. Also, the bay at Scioto had a small flock of 6 Pied-billed Grebes, and another 1 was at Haul RD, along with 4 Coots.

Raptors - Red-tails were at Scioto and the cemetery, while a male Cooper's buzzed past the Grange Center at Scioto. The old Eagle nest at Haul Rd looked deserted, but I did have an adult Bald Eagle soaring over the ponds there.

Gulls - not very many, with perhaps 20 Ring-bills and 2-3 Herring, but the Herring were giving long calls and acting territorial.

Woodpeckers - lots of Downies, Hairies, and Red-bellies along the river, but little elsewhere. I could find no sapsuckers either along the river or in the cemetery, so our winter residents appear to have left.

Tree Swallows - 2 were winging around the river and wetlands at Scioto

Brown Creepers - after seeing so few elsewhere the past week, 7 along the river was a bit jarring. 6 were at Berliner, but the 7th was singing at Scioto near the Grange Center

Kinglets - no big rush, with only 2-3 along the bikepath at Berliner, an average winter #.

Mockingbirds - the clearing of the old impound lot forced 3-4 of them to forage and sing along the road into Scioto

Tree Sparrows - a few were still hanging around the fields north of the Grange Center in Scioto

White-throated Sparrows - definitely lower #s, with only 15 or so along the bikepath at Scioto, and even fewer in the cemetery.

Fox Sparrows - near peak migration for these, with 4 scattered along the bikepath in Scioto, and another 4 at the shrubby western end of the ravine in Greenlawn cemetery. Some of the latter were even singing.

Blackbirds - plenty of Redwings, Grackles, and Cowbirds along the River in both Scioto and Berliner, but no Rusties in the wet woods here.

Finches - Goldfinches at many locations, but no siskins today
