After hiking around the lake at Spring Valley Wildlife Area, I spotted a mature
Bald Eagle from the lower parking lot at 2pm today. It hung around for just over
an hour flying around the lake and into and out of the cove to right of the
parking lot where it perched in the tall Sycamores resting and preening.

Fortunately I was able to share this sighting with more than a dozen other
people including a wildlife officer.

Other bird sightings at the lake included a flock of 200 American Coots, a Pied
Billed Grebe, Red Tailed Hawks and a female Pileated Woodpecker carving out a
nest.

Wild Turkey were calling from the woods just across the creek at the lower
parking lot as well, we only heard them, did not see them.

Nearby on Sears Rd. Eastern Meadowlarks were also spotted.
