We burned the prairie area at Greenlawn Cemetary in Columbus today, hopefully setting back a number of woody invaders that had gained a foothold since the last burn 3 years ago. Prior to burning, I checked the bluebird boxes and found a clutch of 4 bluebirds that probably hatched a couple of days ago. We took the box down until the fire passed, and when we put it back the mother returned within minutes to check her young. While we were working, a broad-winged hawk lazily circled overhead before drifting north towards downtown.
