A very vocal flock of Pine Siskins was singing up storm at the Holden Arboretum in Lake County late Thursday afternoon . They could be seen and heard between the visitor center and the enclosed shelter. There are also Goldfinches and House Finches nearby, so listen for the characteristic Siskin "zzzzip!" I have never heard so much Siskin song! They were feeding in the hybrid elms.
Also at Holden: Yellow Warbler, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Brown Thrasher, and Warbler Vireo.
Male Rose-breasted Grosbeak in my Cleveland heights back yard.
