I headed out after work again to try for this beauty only to hear from Ray
that it flew off at around 3:30 as it had done on previous days. I had a
positive feeling about it this morning thinking that maybe my third try will
be a charm. At about 4:33 I located the Say's Phoebe perched up on one of
the tallest snags on the west side of the dunes area just as you exit the
path. The bird put on a great display of fly-catching for all of us to
witness. I just couldn't take my eyes off this beauty. Several of us stayed
and watched the bird until about 6:15 when it flew off over the treeline
possibly toward the Coast Guard trail. I'm so grateful to have seen this
life bird in Ohio! We also had a stunning Osprey fly over the dunes which
was an added bonus to the day.
