Spring migration was especially evident today. A flock of about 100 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS was in the recently plowed field across from the end of our driveway. As far as I could tell it was a monospecific flock, although I didn't have my scope with me (another example of work time constraints ruining a birding opportunity). Additionally, I noticed my first Blue-gray Gnatcatcher of the year this morning near our pond. I can feel the excitement of being on the outskirts of the edge of the peak of migration...
