Hi all,

I only had time to spend roughly an hour at the Magee boardwalk this morning so I'm not entirely sure what others had today. Between 9-10am, the usual suspects were recorded including Yellow-rumped, Pine and Palm Warblers, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, House Wrens and so on. The stunning male Scarlet Tanager was still present as well, sticking close to #17b for much of the day. I've heard a report that the Louisiana Waterthrush was seen again today and Kenn Kaufman had a flyover Snowy Egret - most likely the first of year for the region.

After meeting up with BSBO staff member, John Sawvel, we headed to the southern edge of Sandusky Bay to scout private lands for the Biggest Week in American Birding bus trips. Highlights in the area (Sandusky Co. near Vickery) include my FOY Prothonotary Warbler, Wood Thrush, Solitary Sandpiper and Bank Swallows. House Wrens and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers seemed to have multiplied overnight and were abundant.everywhere.

If anyone finds time to bird the Sandusky Bay region, there is good shorebird habitat throughout. Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area is definitely worth a stop; spend some time viewing north of the observation deck along US-6. Mudflats are plentiful and so are shorebirds. Something interesting is bound to be found. There was also a nice mixed flock of a hundred or so terns sitting on a mudflat.

Looks like we'll have some new arrivals later this week - check out Kenn Kaufman's Migration Outlook here (http://cranecreekbirding.blogspot.com/).

Good birding,
