Greetings -

At 6:20 p.m., four FISH CROWS, originally and brilliantly found yesterday by Andy Jones and Michelle Leighty, were present on Rocklyn Road, several houses down from 2677 Rocklyn, where the nest sits far above the road in a massive oak. BEWARE that this exact house is undergoing driveway reconstruction, with a crew of three trucks and at least 5 folks working on the driveway and lawn. I couldn't believe it when I rolled up. The nest tree is directly above them, 80+ feet overhead. Clearly the crows are bothered, as I did not find them with Terri Martinicic till 35 minutes after my initial visit, and they were still very wary and staying down the street away from the construction. Diagnostic calls were heard and many photos taken. Two of the birds briefly showed courtship display of some kind, bowing to one another and a short bout of duo preening.

The driveway crew should be there for at least another day as they were far from finishing their work (not a classic pave job, this is a detailed ornamental brick/block laying job). I would recommend circling the vicinity of the house and waiting patiently along the length of the street for the birds to come in. I would assume that this work would not deter the crows completely, but perhaps for the next day or so, cause them to spend a bit of time elsewhere within the neighborhood.

Please refer to Andy's very detailed report from this morning for description and photos.

Best of birding-
