Ben Eckstein and myself made our weekly Tuesday trip to Kiser Lake. Here are
the species we encountered.
Fishing pier just off Kiser Lake Rd. (Southeast side of Lake)
Gray Catbird
Yellow Warbler (several)
Brown-headed Cowbird
Red-winged Blackbird
Blue Jay
Mallard
Downy Woodpecker
Mourning Dove
Warbling Vireo
Common Grackle
American Crow
Northern Cardinal
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Eastern Towhee
Northern Parula (heard)
East side of lake near campground
Blue-winged Teal (about 3 pairs)
Canada Geese
Mute Swan (x2)
Tree Swallow
American Coot
Mallard
Killdeer
Turkey Vulture
American Robin
Also walked the trail next to the pier going back to the Boy Scout/shelter
house area and along the shore behind the shelter house
Northern Parula (chased for quite a while and finally saw it)
House Wren
Wood Duck (pair)
American Coot (pair)
Solitary Sandpiper
Barn Swallow
Gray Catbird
Wild Turkey (heard)
Carolina Chickadee
Great Blue Heron
Black-throated Green Warbler (really cool bird and let us get within about 5
feet)
