Well, the cormorants are moving through. There are currently about 200 of them just above the dam at Hoover. On Wednesday there were 150 in the same area with one lone loon hanging around. A dozen or so coots are in the area as well and we had the osprey feeding in the area. We have consistently had a pair of pied-billed grebes in the water behind the office for the last several months. It would be interesting to see if they nest.

On an off note, on Monday I saw a few dozen June bugs on the steps to the dam as well as a spring azure and a red admiral butterfly. On Wednesday, I saw a Monarch and another red admiral as well as a hackberry butterfly. Definitely all very early!

Elayna
