         Zaleski State Forest is located 14 miles south of Nelsonville(Rte
33) off of Rte 278. Jason Simonis & I went to Zaleski State Forest
yesterday(April 5th). The wild flowers were ahead of
schedule(Large-flowered Trilliums), but the hardwood trees had buds & small
leaves, & the understory had Buckeye trees that were leafed out as well as
the black raspberries. This is normal. The birds I saw were on schedule for
this time of April. Below is a list of some of the birds seen & places we
visited.
