I stopped by the woodlot at the OSU Waterman Farm around 10:30 a.m. this
morning, and was surprised to find a female Blue Grosbeak on the edge of the
woodlot next to the parking lot. I watched the bird for close to half an
hour, and she foraged either at the woodland edge, or in the adjacent field.

As I watched the grosbeak, I also heard a Mourning Warbler singing from the
dense undergrowth right next to the parking lot. Unfortunately, it only
sang 3 times, and did not show itself.

For anyone unfamiliar with Waterman Farm, you can enter the property from
either Kenny Rd. or Lane Ave. The woodlot is located in the northwest
corner. Drive past the Honeybee lab, and take a dirt road about half a mile
to the parking area, just past the turfgrass facility.

Good Birding,
Alex Champagne
