On Wednesday, May 9 I looked for the White-faced Ibis at Wright Marsh
without success from 9:00 am to about 3:00 pm. At least three additional
parties were looking without success. The north impoundment and both ponds
at Wright Marsh were searched in the morning and early afternoon by me and
at least one other party and the rest of the impoundments of Killibuck WA
were also searched from the RR tracks north of Willow Road and the south
impoundment south of Willow Road was searched from Cemetery Road. Water
levels were high along the RR tracks due to flooding from then recent rain
in the area. The ibis could have been hiding and still present, vastly
changed their feeding strategy or left the area. While I was at Wright in
the morning, a hellicopter circled the whole Killibuck-Wright Marsh area
putting up all of the egrets and herons as well as a flock of 23
Short-billed Dowitchers plus 2 Dunlin and both Yellowlegs species and
Solitary Sandpipers. There were no ibis seen in flight.
