Yesterday morning about 7:30AM, while driving to a meeting in Dover, I spotted what appeared to be a raven on the side of SR 36 near Conesville.

The details: noted two corvids feeding on roadkill on the shoulder up ahead. The birds spooked off the corpse as the car ahead of us passed the birds. It was then I noted one of the birds was nearly twice the size of the other, with broad wings and a huge dagger- like bill. Both birds flew off as we passed- i would say total observation time was ten seconds.

 If I were driving in my native Upper Peninsula, I wouldn't hesitate in calling this bird a raven but here, I am not sure if my brief observation would pass muster with the OBRC.

Still, birders in Coshocton County should keep their eyes peeled!
