I had some good luck yesterday hearing birds while not really birding.  Around 5:00 AM, before dawn, a barred owl called withing earshot of my home in Poland Twp.  At the other end of the day, I heard a common nighthawk at dusk in Lowellville.  Also, a few days ago I heard two barred owls calling from Gray's Run while at the Lowellville Cemetary.  It was only 4:00 PM at the time, nowhere near dark outside.  Maybe barred owls are gearing up for a second nesting - do they try to raise more than one brood?  Craig H.
