Friday on the way home I drove through and area that I like and look for birds.
I saw a women with a camera and zoom lens pointed up in a tree so I stopped.
She was photgraphing a RTH nest, she said one juvenile was out of the nest
one hunkering down inside. An adult could be seen flying around overhead.
What I assumed to be a fledged juvenile outside the nest was huge very adult looking
but what do I know? Didn't see the one in the nest.

Well I drove by the nest this morning and the situation seems distressing.
The "fledgling" was in the exact same place, same orientation, on the branch
just outside the nest. Only this time I noticed that one leg seems to be hanging
down awkwardly. Quite clearly this is an adult with a very bad leg.

I did see one nestling, it was still in the gray fuzzy phase
though it seemed fairly large. Saw the other adult nearby.

Don't know what can be done to help the hurt adult, other than wait for it
to get weak enough to fall off its perch and gather it up and hope to save it -
very many implausibles in there though not 100% so.

Anyone with any way to help can email me.

Mary, Fairborn OH (NE Dayton area basically)
