Hello Ohio Birders,

Sunday May 27th around 5 pm I briefly caught sight of a large black bird matching the field marks of a raven - longish pointed tail, wing length-to-width ratio greater than a crow, large head projecting forward. The bird was flying south, about 100 feet altitude, above a field on the south side of Ellis Rd. just west of its intersection with Dry Run Rd., Perry Township, Hocking Co. (old DeLorme p. 69).  I had the bird in view for only 3-4 seconds before it was hidden by trees.  A foray "around the block" (Ellis -Dry Run - Bailor - Moccasin - Ellis) failed to relocate the bird.  I returned yesterday and did not see the bird.  It is possible that it has left the area, and perhaps it may not have been a raven, although I've seen lots of ravens (outside Ohio).  

The area is about 12 miles west of where Jen Sauter had a raven during Count Week for the Hocking Hills CBC at the end of 2010.

I'm posting this to alert those who may spend more time in the vicinity that do I.
