Ohio Birders-

I wanted to point out a birding opportunity that you may not be aware of.

Last year, The City Mission of Cleveland donated their 58 acre Camp property in Ashtabula County to The Nature Conservancy. The property lies along the Grand River forming  part of TNC's Morgan Swamp preserve near Rock Creek, and is now called the Grand River Conservation Center. You can read more about the donation here: http://tinyurl.com/chnzhhu

This is TNC's first spring in the Camp and there's a nice variety of habitats that should provide good birding opportunities. The 1450 acre Morgan Swam Preserve is part of a collection of conservation properties along what is known as the Grand River Lowlands, a long flat stretch of poorly drained swampy woods and openings, with Hemlocks mixed in for variety.  Those of you willing to make the drive will find a site in an Important Bird Area with a lot of habitat and low birder density. You can read more about the Morgan Swamp Preserve here: http://tinyurl.com/c3hyolo

The Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas Block id is East Trumbull 6 (33C4SE) (Thanks to John Poganick for surveying the block!)

A Google map of the Camp site is here:

The address of the camp for your GPS is:

3973 Callender Road
Rock Creek OH 44084

The camp is open from dawn to dusk.
