Hi,

Tom makes really excellent points.

(Although I disagree the strategy is anything more than cut and hope, it
would be insane for anyone doing it to admit that)

While there are lots of things we can do on an individual level, I am
calling for the Ohio birding community to figure out what can be done state
wide, in our state parks, nature preserves, and wildlife areas. We need to
think big picture, large scale action and probably big money. But the
action and money will never come without a well thought out plan.

To me the crucial questions are: How can there be a readily available stock
of native plants available to replace invasives when they are removed from
state lands? How can the Ohio birding community contribute to making this
happen?

If we as a community are too apathetic to be bothered then we have no right
to complain when it happens.

Haans Petruschke
