This morning, Wednesday, at about 7AM, the southern Ohio celebrity visitor, or summer resident ? That was previously reported; was back up Newells Run, north of, and upstream of the Mud Lane Bridge. The Common Merganser appears to be a female or possibly a first year bird. I was able to get some decent photos this morning. The location is at Newells Run Road and Mud Lane off of SR7, south of the town of Newport, or about eleven miles north of Marietta from I-77 and SR7. Some of the other birds of note at this location are Green Heron and Pileated Woodpecker.
