Yesterday 5/31 there were at least 4 male Dickcissels on territory at
Springfield Bog Metro Park, a Summit County Park which opened last year on 1400
Portage Line Road. Currently there is only one large circular trail and the
birds sing in the center of the trail, often not particularly close to any point
in the trail. Prairie restoration is the agenda for this park and the presence
of these birds is a nice start. Currently bird abundance and diversity is
relatively low but the park already hosts a nice diversity of butterflies,
dragonflies, and other interesting things.
