Purple  Martin
June  30, 9 am-2:30 pm
Lakeview  Park

The Lorain County Metro Parks and Black River Audubon Society invite you
to join them for a day-long  event to celebrate Purple Martins at Lakeview
Park in Lorain on Saturday,  June 30 from 9 am until 2:30 pm.

Guest  speakers from The Purple Martin Conservation Association and the
local  Ohio Amish community will share their knowledge, experience, and
expertise  on how to establish successful purple martin colonies.

There  will also be bird house vendors, gourds, and other nesting
structures  to help get you started on your own purple martin colony!! Plus, all  of
the basics needed to attract birds to your backyard bird nesting  habitat
will be available.

Speaker  Schedule for the Purple Martin Symposium

10am  - Keynote Speaker: John Tautin, Executive Director of the Purple
Martin  Conservation Association presents "Building Community for the
conservation  of Purple Martins"

11am  - Workshop: Andy Troyer, Amish martin landlord presents "Being a
Landlord for Purple Martins"

1pm  - John Ryan, local bird enthusiast presents "So you 'Wanna Be' a
Purple Martins Landlord"

Vendors  include: Purple Martin Association, Don Mould's, Bob Holland,
Ohio Department of Natural Resources,  Andy Troyer and more!

Be  sure to check out our own Purple Martin colony located on the East
beach at Lakeview  Park!  Our  colony has been very successful rearing and
fledging   offspring!
