It's good to see that someone was up at Conneaut this morning to observe the shorebird fallout.  This kind of shorebird action is actually somewhat predictable, as poor weather in late Spring (with rain, cool temperatures, and winds with an easterly component) has often meant good birding for me at Conneaut in previous years.  Lorain should be worth checking too; I once saw an amazing 120 sanderlings grounded there on a late May day with bad weather.  A thought on the red knots seen today - I'm not surprised that none of the birds are flagged/banded.  I believe that the knots we see in Ohio are of the roselaari race (breeding in western Alaska) and not from the rufa population.  The migration strategy of rufa red knots (see Brian Harrington's book titled The Flight of the Red Knot) does not take them over Ohio in either spring or fall.  The birds departing from Delaware Bay are thought to fly directly to the central Canadian Arctic breeding
grounds, and pass over the Great Lakes to the east of us.  The fall flight takes rufa red knots to James Bay/Hudson Bay, the St. Lawrence R., and the Massachusetts coast where they refuel before heading to South America.  These birds pass well to the east of us at our latitude.  At least in my humble opinion..........Craig H
