I was out on a boat-related excursion with family today, and got a look at the shallow southwest ends of both West Branch SP's Kirwan Res. (in Portage Co.) and Berlin L. (in Stark Co.).  Some mudflats are already showing at West Branch SP, at the usual place, State Rte. 14 & Knapp Rd.  Berlin L. has a rim of mud showing around it, and will soon have mudflats unless we get significant rain.  Both of these reservoirs usually have more water in them at this time of year.  So both are looking good for potential shorebird stopover sites in late summer/fall.  While at Berlin L., I saw cliff swallows at a couple of bridges where they nest there, and an osprey was on a nest visible from the Rte. 224 causeway.  Good birding, Craig H
