The Columbus Audubon trip to Clear Creek this morning found lots of birds still singing as well as feeding nestlings, though song levels were not close to what they were 2 weeks ago.  We stopped at Neotoma Valley (before the trip), Creekside Trail, Hemlock Trail, Hambleton-Barneby area, Written Rock meadow, and the Fern Trail for a good sampling of habitats in this huge park.  Most of the activity was in the creek-bottom forests, meadows, and ravines; far less activity was up in the dry hillside forests and fields.  Notables included:

Raptors - Only saw Turkey Vultures, but also heard Red-shouldered and Broad-winged Hawks (but only singles of each)
Barred Owls - a pair were calling back & forth at Neotoma Valley early.
Cuckoos - surprisingly scarce, with no Yellow-bills and 1 Black-billed (calling at Neotoma).
Hummingbirds - Small numbers of Ruby-throats at every stop
Pileated Woodpeckers - mostly in side ravines, with a pair along the hemlock Trail and another on the Fern Trail

Flycatchers - LOADS of Acadians; they were everywhere.  Other flycatchers were much less conspicuous, but did include Willow and Least calling at Written Rock meadow, and Great Crested & Pewees in hillside forests,and a few Phoebes along Clear Creek.

Swallows - only Trees (around boxes) and Rough-wings (along Creek)

Vireos - good day, with lots of Red-eyed at each stop, along with 8+ Yellow-throated, 4 Blue-headed, and 2 pairs of White-eyed (Barneby and Fern Trail)

Thrushes - good day, with lots of Wood Thrushes at all areas of moist woods.  Veeries were all along Creek bottom (Creekside, lower Hemlock, and Fern Trails).  The only Hermits were 3 singing along the hillside on the Hemlock Trail

Warblers - mixed day, with 14 species, but good #s of most that we found.  Hooded, Ovenbirds, and Redstarts were most common, followed by lots of Yellows and Common Yellowthroats (along the Creek-bottom meadows) and Black&Whites (mostly in ravines).  Rarer species included Blue-winged (Barneby), Worm-eating (Hemlock & Fern Trails), Parula (Creekside & Fern Trails), Cerulean (Barneby, Written Rock, and Fern Trails), Magnolia (2 along Hemlock Trail), Black-thr.Greens (hemlock forests along Hemlock & Fern Trails), Kentuckys (3 along TulipTree trail at Barneby), and Louisiana Waterthrushes (Hemlock Trail and Fern Trail).  There were no Prairie or Pine Warblers around Barneby; you may need to get up on the high fields and pines along the Chesnut Trail or Cemetery Ridge Trail to find these birds now.

Tanagers - 1-2 Scarlets at almost every location, but no Summers.

Buntings,Grosbeaks - LOTs of Indigo Buntings (one of the most common birds), but no grosbeaks

Orioles - a few Baltimores were along Creekside Trail and near Written Rock meadow, while an Orchard was singing at the west edge of the latter location.
