Today I attended the annual Cranberry Bog open tour at Buckeye Lake- this
very unique sphagnum bog is down to perhaps 11 acres now, depending on who
you ask. As I was admiring the plants there, I heard a Prothonotary Warbler
singing in the trees (the 'floating' bog has substantial trees growing on
it). I discussed this with a volunteer who said that a birder had been out
on an earlier Buckeye Lake Historical Society tour and had counted 3 of them
at the bog. It's always nice to hear them!
