I am from Minnesota visiting Ohio this week. I stopped briefly at Big Island WMA west of Marion and saw an unusual duck west of the viewing platform. I thought it looked like the common eiders I saw in Northern Ireland 6 weeks ago, but realize that this would be very unusual. In the distant scope view I thought I saw a black cap, black belly, and orangish breast. Could this possibly have been a common eider? A barnyard duck? If anyone else sees this duck I would appreciate an opinion.
