Wednesday, July 4 - 9:15-10:30 a.m.

Some decent mudflats have developed at the East Metropark and are easily
visible from the first parking area overlooking the lake.  Our sightings
today included:

Spotted sp - 5
Least sp - 7
Lesser yellowlegs - 1
Solitary sp - 1
Great blue herons - 100+
Great egrets - 4
Killdeer - 15
Belted kingfisher - 1 female
Wood ducks - 30+
Mallards
Canada geese
Barn and tree swallows
Cedar waxwings
Warbling vireo
Indigo buntings
Common yellowthroats
Song and field sparrows
Northern flicker
Red-bellied woodpecker
Red-tailed hawk

A quick drive through the North Park on Old Springfield Rd. yielded:

Blue grosbeaks - 2 (possibly 3--very vocal)  Great looks at  them.
Common yellowthroats
Yellow warblers
Indigo buntings
Baltimore oriole
Green heron
Great blue herons
Wood ducks
Mallards
Ring-billed gull - 1
Red-winged blackbirds
Warbling vireo
Willow flycatchers
