Just a note to confirm that there is a hunting club in Adams County that has been releasing Pheasant, Bobwhites, and Chukar for the last year. They have been doing it to aid their large hunting "camps" here in the county. Birds are apparently a significant draw for their clientele. The up side is that they are also converting fallow fescue fields into native grassland species so you can expect more small grassland species like Henslow's and grasshoppers to increase, as long as they can duck the shot.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Chukar Partridge?

My friend posted a picture on Facebook of a bird she saw near her home near West Union. Her friends have been identifying it as a Chukar Partridge. Would this be unusual? She told me that others have told her that these are sometimes bred for hunting. Otherwise, I have never heard of them living in Ohio.
