I saw another Merlin in the grasslands. I had gone to investigate a mobbing by crows and the 
squealing of a Red-tail and was not in an area I normally bird. I suspect this bird was hatch year. I 
also had three Dickcissals in this same spoil bank area. Dickcissals successfully fledged near here 
this season for the first time. Not only are they rare for the area, but this seems a little late from

subID=S11420605. I will try in earnest to relocate the Merlin this weekend and get a photo. With 
10,000 acres of grass and scrub this is likely a pipe dream.
