Our purple martins left earlier this week....................the barn
swallows are still very busy.

Prothonotary warblers still along the boardwalk......

I think most of us would agree on the following two statements

1. Today's kids do not get outside often enough

2. WE all need to encourage and support young birders

With that in mind, I hope you will make plans to attend the Lake Erie
Wing Watch Weekend, September 22-33 with your favorite young person.
There will be various events going on in both Erie and Ottawa counties
as well as the islands. There will be bird walks (just in time for
fall migration) and birder breakfasts both days. Special Saturday
evening performance by Foster Brown, well known naturalist and singer
from the Cleveland Area. All of the details can be found at
www.LakeErieWingWatch.com You can also find LEWW on Facebook or
contact me to snail mail you a schedule. Most events are free but some
do require pre-registration.

Happy Birding
