I spent part of yesterday morning scouting around the Dublin Scioto River gorge and O'Shaughnessy reservoir looking for stray herons, shorebirds, and early migrants. Water levels in the gorge and reservoir are still high, so shorebirding was slight. There were a steady stream of cormorants and Ring-billed Gulls along the reservoir, but no unusual waterbirds. The upper end, between Pylon Point and Bellepont, had small #s of Great Egrets (3) and Great Blue Herons (5), but no real mudflats. Landbird migrants were mostly restricted to swifts (a flock of 20-30 around the dam), swallows (small #s of Barn Swallows over much of the reservoir, while 10-12 Cliffs were still around the dam), and kingbirds (1-2 at most stops, so they appear to be gathering and moving south).
