I took advantage of the beautiful weather today to clean my nest boxes at Dustin Road in Galena (Delaware County). Linda came along to give me company and to help carry some tools (and to look for warblers while I worked). I'll probably begin to pay for the very high pollen count by tomorrow.

Dustin Road did better than most areas where I have nest boxes, only losing 5 nest boxes. But even better than that there were more Prothonotary Warbler nests than I was aware of. In several sections the nests were so close together that I likely watched multiple birds thinking they were the same individual. The ratio was better than one nest for every three nest boxes, the highest percentage of nests used in an area per my records going back to 1987.

Linda did manage to locate several decent birds including warblers, mostly Magnolia and Redstarts, along with Rose-breasted Grosbeaks.
