Hey all -
 
The promising sparrow habiat I mentioned at Lorain Impoundment a week or so ago produced at least one gorgeous Nelson's Sparrow on this blustery day.  There were one, if not two, "probable" birds present, too.  And, unusually, the camera was safe at home :-(
 
Anywhoo, this particular sparrow was toward the west side of the impoundment, basically right where the great shorebird habitat was a year ago.  There's a grassy dirt "ramp" leading down into the impoundment from the dike and it was hanging out in the low-lying smartweed patch a couple hundred feet out.
 
This area should continue to attract Ammodramus sp. in the coming weeks.
