A series of cold fronts have really started the migration engine.

Today the Black Swamp Bird Observatory's Navarre Banding Station had 17
warbler species, a major increase in Gray-cheeked Thrush, and it's first
Golden-crowned Kinglet for the fall.

A major movement of Red-breasted Nuthatch has been ongoing all week.
Blackpoll Warbler has become the dominant warbler with a slight increase in
Yellow-rumps.

Early species are still possible this weekend with an expected increase in
"October" birds. Weather looks favorable fr a continued influx. It is time
for the first Juncos!

BSBO will conduct its first fall banding demonstration on Saturday from 10 -
11:30 AM. Come out and join us to learn about migration and see what species
joins us. The water feature at the Window on Wildlife is getting a wide
variety of warblers and the Selasphorus hummingbird is still a regular.
