Following up Bill Whan's report, I hurried over to the Greenlawn dam this afternoon to see the Great Egret spectacle. Numbers have inched up, to 90 birds, and there were lots of Great Blues (10), cormorants (40), and Ring-billed Gulls (200+) adding to the fun. Afterwards, I hiked down the bikepath at nearby Berliner Park, one of Columbus' more reliable migrant traps. The woods there were doing the 'migrant trap' thing well, with several flocks of migrants that seemed straight out of Ontario. Among the birds found in an hour were
Black-billed Cuckoo - 1
Wood Pewee - 5
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher - 1
Blue-headed Vireo - 1
Warbling Vireo - 2
Philadelphia Vireo - 1
Red-eyed Vireo - 2
Red-br.Nuthatch - 1
Swainson's Thrushes - 3
Parula Warbler - 1
Tennessee Warbler - 6
Magnolia Warbler - 2
Chesnut-sided Warbler - 4
Black-thr.Green - 9
Blackpoll - 2
Bay-breasted - 2
Black&White - 2
Amer.Redstart - 6
Wilson's Warbler - 1
